Brandon Maternity Photographer
Maternity portraits for Brandon mamas-to-be, with a client gown wardrobe, gentle guided posing and hand-retouched images in one to two weeks.

Pregnancy in Brandon tends to be busy. You're juggling appointments, a nursery to-do list and the commute on SR 60, and then one day you look down and realize the bump is here and the season is moving fast. That's the moment I want to catch. I'm Mallary Denson, a Tampa maternity photographer based in a New Tampa studio, and Brandon, home to 114,626 people at the 2020 census, is one of the communities I serve most happily.
A Brandon maternity photoshoot with me is calm and guided from start to finish. You choose a gown from my client wardrobe, I walk you through every pose, and your partner and older children are welcome to step in. Afterward, your images are hand-retouched and delivered to a private gallery in one to two weeks, which matters when your due date is getting close. 10 Best Photographers ranked me No. 1 for maternity in Tampa for 2026, and my Google reviews stand at 5.0 stars from 143 clients.
Timing Your Bump Photos Around Life in Brandon
The sweet spot for maternity portraits is 28 to 34 weeks. Your bump is round and defined, and you're usually still comfortable walking a short trail or standing for a few sets of poses. I recommend reaching out four to six weeks before you'd like to shoot, so if you're 22 or 23 weeks today, now is a good time to send a note.
Brandon mothers often plan the session around prenatal visits. If you're delivering at HCA Florida Brandon Hospital, which has labor and delivery, mother-baby suites and a Level III NICU, the drive between your appointment and an evening session is short. My post on when to book a maternity photographer in Tampa goes deeper on planning the date.
Maternity Photographer Brandon
I offer four kinds of maternity sessions: Studio, Beach, Nature and City, and Couples. For Brandon clients, Nature sessions are the natural fit, since some of the prettiest cypress and river scenery in east Hillsborough is only a few minutes south of town. Studio sessions are the right call in August heat or for anyone who wants a polished, fine-art look with clean backgrounds.
Collections are simple. Essentials is $400 for 5 images, Complete is $650 for 10, and Premium is $1,150 for 20. Additional images are $50 each. You can compare them on my maternity pricing page, and if you're curious how I approach posing for different body types, my maternity pose ideas post has ideas to save before we meet.
Couples sessions deserve a special mention. Plenty of partners feel awkward in front of a camera, and that's exactly why I guide every pose: where to stand, where to look, how to hold the bump without hiding it. Within a few frames the nerves fade, and the candid laughter that follows is usually the image that ends up framed in the nursery.

Where the Light Is Softest Near Brandon
For maternity photography, I look for open shade, a clean horizon and a place where a long gown can move without catching on anything. The spots below each give that in a different way, from boardwalks under cypress to quiet ponds along the Brandon Parkway. All are reachable in well under an hour from most Brandon ZIPs, 33508 through 33511.
Hillsborough County's film guidelines let small shoots of five people or fewer, photographer included, go ahead in county parks without a permit, as long as it's handheld or tripod only with no props. That covers most maternity sessions, even with a partner and a sibling or two.
Alderman's Ford Conservation Park
Boardwalks and footbridges wind under giant cypress and oak along the Alafia River. A long gown against that dark, textured forest makes for a striking, timeless frame.
Bell Creek Nature Preserve
A 477-acre preserve on McMullen Road with mature trees and open, grassy clearings. It works beautifully for soft, backlit bump portraits at golden hour.
Brandon Parkway Trail
A paved, three-mile corridor past ponds and green space near Lumsden and Providence roads. Easy walking for third-trimester comfort, with wide, open skies.
Lithia Springs Conservation Park
A natural spring that holds at 72 degrees year-round, framed by shade trees. Water and greenery give maternity portraits a calm, fresh feel.
My New Tampa Studio
Indoors and private, with clean backdrops for fine-art maternity portraits. A favorite option for summer bookings and for couples who want an elegant, editorial look.
From Kensington Estates to Limona: Getting to Your Session
Brandon covers a lot of ground, from Brandon Hills and Kensington Estates near the core to Limona, La Viva and Barrington Oaks East. Interstate 75 runs along the western side with exits at SR 60 and the Selmon Expressway, and I-4 passes about four miles north of town. My studio in New Tampa is roughly a 30-minute drive up I-75 for most Brandon families.
Late in the third trimester, comfort counts. I'd rather you arrive rested than rushed, so I'll suggest a time that avoids the worst of SR 60 traffic and leaves room for a snack, a restroom stop and a few minutes to settle into your gown.
Expecting mothers from neighboring communities can also read my pages on maternity photos in Riverview, Apollo Beach maternity photography by the bay, and a Temple Terrace maternity photographer session closer to the river.
A Town Named for a Family
Brandon takes its name from John Brandon, who came from Mississippi with his family in 1857. The settlement was platted and named for him in 1890, and it grew fast after World War II; by the early 1960s, an estimated new family moved in every day. It feels fitting to photograph growing families in a place that has always been about them.
That sense of continuity is part of why maternity portraits matter: they're images your child will see someday. A maternity portrait is the first family photo, really, even if one of you hasn't arrived yet.
Gowns, Golden Hour and Florida Heat
Pregnancy and Florida humidity are not always friends. From May through September, I book outdoor maternity sessions for the hour before sunset, when the light is warm and forgiving on skin and the air finally cools. Winter and early spring give us more flexibility, and the low sun makes flowing gowns glow.
Your session includes access to my gown wardrobe, so you don't have to buy a dress you'll wear once. Fitted gowns show off the bump beautifully; chiffon and tulle catch the breeze for movement shots. Bring comfortable shoes for the walk in, and if your partner is joining, my guide on what to wear for maternity photos has ideas for coordinating without matching. When you're ready, reserve your maternity session.

Brandon maternity photography FAQs
Yes. HCA Florida Brandon Hospital has a Level III NICU, and its women's care team also runs a labor and delivery unit, which is reassuring for Brandon moms who want care close to home. Plan your maternity session between 28 and 34 weeks so it lands comfortably before the last few weeks of appointments.
It is a beautiful option. Bell Creek Nature Preserve covers 477 acres with trails through mature trees and open grassy areas, so we can pair shaded frames with wide, airy shots of a flowing gown. Late afternoon light through the trees works especially well.
Yes, with a little care. Alderman's Ford Conservation Park has a boardwalk and footbridges under big cypress and oak along the Alafia River, which make a dreamy backdrop. A fitted gown with a short train is easiest on the planks, and you can lift the hem between frames. Entry is $2 per vehicle, which covers up to 8 people.
For a couple, it should be. Hillsborough County conservation areas like Bell Creek Nature Preserve waive the film permit when everyone present, me included, adds up to five or fewer and we stick to a handheld camera or tripod. That makes three of us. Props, extra gear or a bigger group would change that, so we keep the setup simple and let the gown do the work.
That is a fair call. The studio is about 25 miles from Brandon, approximately 30 minutes via I-75 depending on traffic, and sitting that long can be uncomfortable at 34 weeks. If you prefer a shorter ride, we can choose an outdoor spot near Brandon instead, such as Bell Creek Nature Preserve or Alderman's Ford Conservation Park.
Aim for 28 to 34 weeks and book 4 to 6 weeks ahead. Brandon moms near Lumsden Road or Providence Road can reach outdoor spots like the Brandon Parkway quickly. My post on when to book has a full timeline.
It can be lovely. The Brandon Parkway runs about three miles with pedestrian and bike paths past ponds and green space, so evening light reflects off the water behind you. Since the paths link Lumsden Road, Providence Road, Town Center Boulevard and Lakewood Drive, we can pick a short stretch near you and keep the walking minimal.
Essentials includes 5 images, Complete includes 10 and Premium includes 20, with extra images at $50 each. Brandon moms who want both a nature session and studio frames often choose Complete or Premium. Details are on my maternity pricing page.
Yes, midday in August is rough in the third trimester. In summer, Brandon sessions work best in the first hour after sunrise or the last hour before sunset. Shade from the cypress and oak at Alderman's Ford helps, and we will plan water breaks between gown changes.
Yes. Captured by Mallary Photography is Black woman-owned, and I photograph expecting moms across Brandon and Hillsborough County. I care deeply about skin tones, lighting and posing that feel true to you. You can read more in my post about being a Black maternity photographer in Tampa.
Yes. From the 33511 side of Brandon, Alderman's Ford Conservation Park and Lithia Springs Conservation Park are both reachable nature options with water and shade. Lithia Springs has a natural spring that stays 72 degrees year-round, with clear water and shade, and a $2 vehicle entry. Partners and kids are welcome to come along.
