Temple Terrace Maternity Photographer
Garden paths, river cypress and Mediterranean warmth. Maternity portraits in Temple Terrace that feel romantic and serene.

Some places just feel romantic, and Temple Terrace is one of them. The city was designed a century ago around gardens, golf and the Hillsborough River, and that softness still shows in every shady street. As the maternity photographer Tampa moms trust, I bring expecting moms here when they want bump photos with a dreamy, garden-party mood rather than a beach or skyline.
My name is Mallary Denson, and I run Captured by Mallary Photography, a Black woman-owned studio in New Tampa. I hold a 5.0 rating from 143 Google reviews, was ranked No. 1 for maternity in Tampa by 10 Best Photographers in 2026, and was named No. 2 Maternity Photographer in Tampa by Best Tampa Photographers for 2027. I'm especially careful with lighting and gown color for deeper skin tones, so every mom looks radiant.
A Garden Mood for Your Maternity Portraits
Temple Terrace maternity photography is all about softness. Think layered greenery behind a pale gown, sunlight filtering through cypress along the river, and quiet paths where you can walk slowly without a crowd. It's a lovely setting for moms who want images that feel gentle and painterly.
I pair that mood with posing that flatters your bump and stays comfortable: a slow walk with your partner, a seated pose on a garden bench, hands framing the belly in profile. Each pose is guided, so you're never left guessing, and we take breaks whenever you need water or a breather.
Color plays a big part too. Against the deep greens of Temple Terrace, gowns in dusty rose, champagne, terracotta or soft lavender stand out beautifully without fighting the background. When you arrive, I'll have a few options ready based on your skin tone, your due date and the location, and we can swap gowns between spots if your collection allows. It's a small detail, but it makes your gallery look cohesive and intentional.
Maternity Photographer Temple Terrace
Every session with me as your Temple Terrace maternity photographer includes my client gown wardrobe and guided posing from start to finish. Partners and children are always welcome, and I love capturing an older sibling listening to the bump. If your partner feels camera-shy, I'll give simple prompts, like resting a chin on your shoulder or whispering something to the baby, that make natural expressions happen.
Your images are hand-retouched and delivered within 1 to 2 weeks, with extra images available at $50 each. You'll find full details on my investment page, and you're welcome to reach out with questions before booking.
- Essentials: $400, 5 retouched images
- Complete: $650, 10 retouched images
- Premium: $1,150, 20 retouched images

Romantic Settings In and Around Temple Terrace
The USF Botanical Gardens sit just west of the city and give us flowers, palms and winding paths in one compact space. Riverhills Park offers a boardwalk along the Hillsborough River under cypress and oak, and Morris Bridge Park, farther upriver, has a quarter-mile boardwalk through riparian forest that feels miles from the city. Each one has level paths and plenty of shade, which matters a lot when you're carrying a third-trimester bump through Florida humidity.
The botanical gardens charge $5 general admission and ask that visitors be respectful of people and plants, and I contact the gardens about professional photography before we confirm. For more locations, browse my list of favorite Tampa maternity photography locations.
USF Botanical Gardens
About 15 acres with more than 3,000 plants, from palms to flowering beds. $5 admission; I check photography arrangements in advance.
Riverhills Park boardwalk
A riverfront boardwalk under cypress and oak on the Hillsborough River. Soft, shaded light for long gowns.
Morris Bridge Park
106 acres upriver with a quarter-mile boardwalk through riparian forest. Quiet and wild-feeling.
My New Tampa studio
About 15 to 20 minutes north. Private and climate-controlled for fine-art maternity portraits.
From Temple Terrace Estates to the USF Area
I photograph expecting moms throughout Temple Terrace, ZIP codes 33617 and 33637, including Temple Terrace Estates, Riverhills, Carriage Hills, Terrace River, Hidden Oaks and Temple Terrace Heights. Nearby Tampa neighborhoods around USF are easy to include too.
The city is laced with major roads: 56th Street, Busch Boulevard, Fowler Avenue, Bullard Parkway and Fletcher Avenue, with I-75 just to the east. From my New Tampa studio it's about 15 to 20 minutes. I also photograph moms as a New Tampa maternity photographer, and families to the south and east book me for maternity photos in Brandon and Riverview.
Temple Oranges, Historic Greens and a Nearby Hospital
Temple Terrace was incorporated in 1925 and named for the Temple orange, a hybrid that once covered about 5,000 acres here, then the largest citrus grove in the world. The land had been part of Bertha Palmer's 19,000-acre Riverhills preserve. Its 1922 golf course, designed by Tom Bendelow, joined the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.
Today the city of 26,690 residents, per the 2020 Census, sits minutes from AdventHealth Tampa on Fletcher Avenue. Its Women's Health Pavilion includes ten labor, delivery and recovery suites and a level III NICU, so many Temple Terrace moms plan their delivery close to home.
The city also keeps its small-town traditions. Historic Woodmont Park hosts the annual Winter Wonderland each holiday season, and the original 1922 clubhouse, Sutton Hall, now belongs to Florida College. Those threads of history give Temple Terrace a sense of continuity that many parents want for the next chapter of their own family.
Best Weeks and Best Light
For most moms, 28 to 34 weeks is the ideal window, with a round bump and enough energy for a relaxed walk. I recommend booking 4 to 6 weeks ahead, and my maternity outfit guide helps if you'd like a second look beyond the gown wardrobe.
Temple Terrace's tree cover makes evening light especially soft. In summer I schedule the last hour before sunset and keep the studio as a backup when afternoon storms linger. From late fall through early spring, cooler air lets you wear heavier fabrics comfortably and the river looks calm and glassy. Ready to plan? Book your Temple Terrace maternity session and I'll start pulling gowns for you.

Temple Terrace maternity photography FAQs
AdventHealth Tampa at 3100 E. Fletcher Avenue has a Women's Health Pavilion with a level III NICU, and it is a short drive from most Temple Terrace neighborhoods via Fletcher Avenue or 56th Street. Plan your maternity session between 28 and 34 weeks so it falls comfortably before the final stretch.
Yes, with a little planning. The USF Botanical Gardens cover 15 acres with more than 3,000 plants, so every turn gives a different backdrop. General admission is $5, and the gardens ask you to contact [email protected] about professional photography. Flowing gowns in soft pink or ivory pop against the greenery.
Yes. The riverfront boardwalk at Riverhills Park runs under cypress and oak along the Hillsborough River, so even a bright afternoon feels softer. The park covers 34.45 acres, and the boardwalk is easy to walk in a gown. Bring water and we will take breaks in the shade between poses.
Morris Bridge Park has a cypress boardwalk along the Hillsborough River, so tall trunks frame a gown and reflect soft light off the water. The trees give shade, and we usually plan an early morning session to keep it cool and quiet.
Temple Terrace is about 10 miles from my New Tampa studio, approximately 15 to 20 minutes by car. Fowler Avenue and Interstate 75 are the main corridors out of the city. I send exact directions once you book, and we can plan the drive around school traffic.
On boardwalks, a fitted gown with a short train is easier to manage. My included client wardrobe has jewel tones and soft neutrals that look lovely against cypress and the Hillsborough River at Riverhills Park. More styling ideas are in my guide to maternity outfits.
Book about 4 to 6 weeks ahead so the session lands between 28 and 34 weeks. Temple Terrace moms near Bullard Parkway or Busch Boulevard are a short drive from my studio, so we can move a date if needed.
Yes, partners and children are welcome. I start with family frames while little ones are fresh, then move to solo bump portraits. Riverhills Park, on the Hillsborough River, has cypress and oak shade where kids can rest between setups. Guided posing keeps everyone comfortable.
Hand-retouched images arrive within 1 to 2 weeks in a private online gallery. Collections range from 5 to 20 images, and extra images are $50 each. Temple Terrace moms in 33617 and 33637 can see every option on my maternity investment page.
In summer I schedule Temple Terrace sessions for the first hour after sunrise or the last hour before sunset. Riverhills Park and Woodmont Park both have trees for shade, but midday heat is tough in the third trimester. If it is too hot, the studio is always an option.
Temple Terrace incorporated on May 28, 1925, and was planned as a Mediterranean Revival golf course community. Its Tom Bendelow golf course saw first play in 1922. That history gives the city a timeless feel, and classic gowns in cream or champagne suit it well.
