Palm Harbor Maternity Photographer
A boardwalk over the Gulf, a quiet lake at golden hour and the Old Florida charm of Ozona. Palm Harbor maternity portraits made to feel peaceful.

Palm Harbor is a peaceful place to celebrate a pregnancy. You can stand on a coastal boardwalk with the Gulf behind you, walk a lakeside trail at golden hour, or stroll an Old Florida street in Ozona. I'm Mallary Denson, the maternity photographer Tampa moms recommend to friends, based in New Tampa, and I bring my gown wardrobe and gentle posing guidance to Palm Harbor for moms who want calm, natural maternity portraits.
From your first message to your final gallery, I keep things simple. We plan the date, pick a gown and a location, and on the day I guide every pose so you can focus on enjoying this season. If you feel unsure in front of a camera, that is completely normal, and my job is to make it feel easy, quiet and even a little fun. Partners and children are welcome to join, and I am happy to include meaningful details like a sonogram print, tiny shoes or a sign with the baby's name.
Coastal Boardwalks and Quiet Water for Bump Portraits
Wall Springs Park is one of my favorite maternity backdrops on this stretch of coast. Its boardwalk and ramped observation tower look out over the Gulf, so we can get wide water views without asking you to climb stairs in your third trimester. The ramps make it easy to move between looks at a comfortable pace.
On the other side of town, John Chesnut Sr. Park sits on Lake Tarpon, which runs about five miles long. The lake trails and boardwalks give softer, greener light, which pairs beautifully with earthy, blush or ivory gowns.
For something with more character, Ozona's historic streets near the water feel like a step back into Old Florida. It is a sweet setting for a couples maternity photoshoot, with your partner's arms around your bump and nothing in the background but cottages, trees and sky.

Palm Harbor Spots for Your Maternity Photoshoot
Each location here creates a different feeling, from open coastal views to quiet lake light. I pick based on the mood you want, the season and how much walking feels good at your stage.
Both Wall Springs and John Chesnut Sr. are Pinellas County parks, and the county's film guidelines say handheld portrait sessions during regular park hours do not require a permit, as long as we skip large lighting setups and keep paths open.
Smaller spots like Pop Stansell Park on St. Joseph Sound are perfect when you want a short, simple session close to home. A few minutes at the water at sunset is often all we need for a stunning bump silhouette, especially later in your third trimester when long walks feel like a lot.
Wall Springs Park
A 210-acre county park with a boardwalk and a 35-foot observation tower reached by wide ramps. Gulf views without stairs.
John Chesnut Sr. Park
255 acres on Lake Tarpon with lakeside boardwalks and soft, green light. Lovely for earthy and ivory gowns.
H.S. "Pop" Stansell Park
A small waterfront park overlooking St. Joseph Sound. Clean water horizons for sunset bump silhouettes.
Ozona
A historic fishing village first settled in 1870, with cottages and quiet streets near the water. Charming for a relaxed couples session.
Pinellas Trail in Palm Harbor
The trail passes through Palm Harbor's historic downtown, with a Bayshore Boulevard pedestrian bridge near mile marker 29. Easy, flat walking.
Neighborhoods and Routes Around Palm Harbor
I photograph expecting parents from Crystal Beach and Ozona near the water to Lansbrook, Innisbrook, Highland Lakes and Tarpon Woods. If you live near Lake Tarpon or the coast, your session spot may be only minutes away.
From New Tampa, I travel about 30 miles west on Tampa Road, State Road 584, which usually takes 45 minutes to an hour. U.S. 19 and Alternate U.S. 19 run north and south through town, and East Lake Road follows the lake's east side.
I also photograph Dunedin maternity portraits on the island beaches, maternity photos in Clearwater at sunset, and Safety Harbor maternity sessions for families farther south.
What Expecting Parents Should Know About Palm Harbor
Palm Harbor is a census-designated place in Pinellas County with 61,366 residents in the 2020 Census. It was known as Sutherland before taking the name Palm Harbor in 1925. Its ZIP codes are 34683, 34684 and 34685.
For delivery, many Palm Harbor families consider Mease Countryside Hospital on McMullen Booth Road in Safety Harbor, which runs a Maternity Center, or Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, home of the Sarah Walker Women's Center. Wall Springs Park, a 210-acre county park, preserves a natural spring that served as a bathing spot from around 1900 until the 1960s.
Palm Harbor is also known for Innisbrook Resort, which hosts the PGA Tour's Valspar Championship, and for its spot on the Pinellas Trail. If you are nesting and planning a babymoon close to home, there is plenty here to make a relaxed day out of your session.
When to Shoot: Weeks, Weather and Golden Hour
The best window for pregnancy photos is 28 to 34 weeks, and I recommend booking four to six weeks ahead. In Palm Harbor, coastal spots glow in the hour before sunset, while the lake trails offer softer light earlier in the afternoon. Lake Tarpon can be lovely on a calm morning too, when the water is still and the light is gentle on your skin. I build in time to sit, sip water and reset between poses, so the session never feels rushed.
Cooler months make long gowns and couples poses comfortable, and summer sessions work best close to sunset with shade and water nearby. Have questions about outfits? My maternity outfit guide is a great start. Then book your Palm Harbor maternity session or contact me with your due date.

Palm Harbor maternity photography FAQs
Yes, because the 35-foot observation tower at Wall Springs Park is ramped, you can walk up at an easy pace without stairs. The view over the Gulf makes a dramatic backdrop for a flowing gown. We take it slowly, pause for breaks and keep comfortable shoes on until it's time to pose.
Yes, the boardwalks at John Chesnut Sr. Park make a romantic, natural path for couples. The 255-acre park sits on Lake Tarpon, so we can pose you two with water behind you, then move toward the observation tower for a few wider frames that show off the bump and the setting.
Yes, a long gown looks wonderful against Ozona's Old Florida cottages and fishing-village streets near the water. My client gown wardrobe is included, so we can pick a soft color that suits weathered wood and water tones. We stay on public streets and keep things quiet for the neighbors.
Thirty weeks sits right inside my 28 to 34 week window, so yes. Palm Harbor's Gulf-side and lakeside parks are a Pinellas County drive from Mease Countryside Hospital's Maternity Center in Safety Harbor, and Morton Plant Hospital's Sarah Walker Women's Center in Clearwater is another nearby option.
It works beautifully. H.S. "Pop" Stansell Park overlooks St. Joseph Sound, so the evening light sits right over the water for clean bump silhouettes. The park is small, which keeps walking to a minimum when you are late in pregnancy and want every bit of energy for posing.
Absolutely. I photograph toddlers first, while they are fresh, then a partner or grandparent can walk them along the Pinellas Trail through Palm Harbor's historic downtown while we finish your solo bump portraits nearby. Partners and children are always welcome.
Under Pinellas County's film guidelines, individual portraits are fine without a permit when we use a handheld camera or tripod, keep walkways open, skip large artificial lights and stay within regular hours. A maternity session at Wall Springs Park or John Chesnut Sr. Park fits easily within those limits.
Four to six weeks ahead is ideal, so your date lands between 28 and 34 weeks. That gives us time to pick your gown, decide between Palm Harbor's Gulf-side parks, Lake Tarpon or the studio, and keep a backup date if the weather turns.
The drive is roughly 30 miles, about 45 to 60 minutes without traffic, so it depends on how you feel. Some Palm Harbor moms like the studio for its indoor comfort and gown changes, while others prefer staying local at Wall Springs Park or Ozona and skipping the trip across the bay.
Yes, guided posing is included. On the Wall Springs Park boardwalk we start with simple walking frames and hands on the bump, then build to fuller poses once you relax. My maternity pose ideas show the kinds of shapes we'll try.
Premium includes 20 hand-retouched images, which gives room for solo gown portraits, couple poses and sibling shots in one Palm Harbor session. It is the most complete option if you want every combination covered. See all three collections on my investment page.
