New Tampa Maternity Photographer

Studio elegance or cypress boardwalks, minutes from Tampa Palms. Maternity portraits made right where my studio lives.

New Tampa maternity photographer

When you're seven months pregnant, a long drive to a photoshoot is the last thing you want. That's why expecting moms in 33647 are some of my favorite clients. My studio is in New Tampa, so as the maternity photographer Tampa moms trust, I can offer you a full gown session without crossing the county, whether we stay indoors under soft studio light or step out onto a boardwalk through the cypress.

I'm Mallary Denson of Captured by Mallary Photography. My clients have given me 5.0 stars across 143 Google reviews, 10 Best Photographers ranked me No. 1 for maternity in Tampa in 2026, and Best Tampa Photographers placed me at No. 2 Maternity Photographer in Tampa for 2027. As a Black woman-owned studio, I bring real care to lighting every skin tone and to posing that honors your changing body.

A Studio Session Down the Road

Many New Tampa moms start in the studio, and for good reason. It's private, cool and quiet, which makes it easier to relax into fine-art poses like side-lit silhouettes, a sheer gown draped over the bump, or a close portrait of your partner's hands. There's no wind, no bugs and no audience, and you can take a break on a chair whenever your back asks for one.

If you want both looks, we can pair the studio with a nearby outdoor spot in one appointment. The Complete and Premium collections give enough images for two settings and a gown change, so your gallery feels like a story rather than a single scene. Studio time also suits moms on modified activity or anyone who simply feels more comfortable away from public paths.

Maternity Photographer New Tampa

Every New Tampa maternity session includes access to my client gown wardrobe and fully guided posing, so you don't need to plan outfits or practice in a mirror. Partners and children are always welcome, and big siblings kissing the bump tend to steal the show.

Posing is where a guided session really helps. Most moms have never been photographed in a gown, and it's normal to feel unsure about where to look or how to stand. I'll show you each pose, adjust the fabric, and tell you exactly when to breathe and soften your shoulders. By the third or fourth frame, most clients forget the camera and start to enjoy the experience.

Galleries are hand-retouched and delivered within 1 to 2 weeks, with additional images at $50 each. For outfit ideas beyond the wardrobe, read what to wear for maternity photos in Tampa, and compare collections on my pricing page.

Outdoor Maternity Spots Around New Tampa

North Tampa still has wild edges, and they make lovely maternity photography backdrops. The Hillsborough River runs just east of the suburbs, lined with cypress, oak and boardwalks that keep your gown off the mud. USF's gardens sit just south of Tampa Palms if you'd prefer flowers and paths to swamp and river.

Some of these places charge small entry fees, like $2 per vehicle at Lettuce Lake and $5 admission at the USF Botanical Gardens, and Lettuce Lake's observation tower and parts of its boardwalk have been under reconstruction. I check access before we lock in a spot, and I always choose paths that are flat and short, since nobody wants to hike a mile in a long dress during the third trimester. For more inspiration, browse my maternity portfolio.

Morris Bridge Park

106 acres on the Hillsborough River with a quarter-mile boardwalk through riparian forest. Cypress trunks frame a long gown beautifully.

Lettuce Lake Park

A 3,500-foot boardwalk over cypress swamp and floodplain. Entry is $2 per vehicle, cash only.

USF Botanical Gardens

About 15 acres with more than 3,000 plants for soft, colorful bump portraits. Admission is $5.

My New Tampa studio

Private, climate-controlled and close to home, ideal for silhouettes and partner portraits.

Flatwoods Park

Wide pine flatwoods with warm backlight at golden hour, great for flowing fabric.

From K-Bar Ranch to Tampa Palms

I photograph expecting families all across ZIP code 33647, including Tampa Palms, Hunter's Green, Cross Creek, Pebble Creek, Grand Hampton, Arbor Greene, Live Oak Preserve, Cory Lake Isles and K-Bar Ranch. Bruce B. Downs Boulevard ties it all together, with I-75, I-275, New Tampa Boulevard and Morris Bridge Road branching off it.

Because I'm local, a session here rarely needs more than a short drive. Moms just north of the county line often book me as a Wesley Chapel maternity photographer, and I also photograph bumps in Temple Terrace and Land O' Lakes. For sessions out in Zephyrhills, ask about travel.

Hospitals, Growth and a Young Part of Tampa

New Tampa grew fast. The city annexed about 24 square miles here in 1988, and the population climbed from 7,145 in 1990 to 26,634 by 2000. By the 2020 Census, ZIP code 33647 counted 69,457 residents, many of them young families planning for a new baby.

For delivery, most local moms look at AdventHealth Tampa on Fletcher Avenue, whose Women's Health Pavilion includes a level III NICU, or AdventHealth Wesley Chapel, which offers mother and baby care just north on the Pasco side. Both are an easy drive from the neighborhoods above, which makes scheduling a session between prenatal visits simple.

Tampa Palms itself was named the top master planned community in the country for 1987 by the National Association of Home Builders. Its wide, palm-lined boulevard is a reminder that this part of town was designed for families from the start.

When to Schedule Your Bump Photos

Plan your session between 28 and 34 weeks, when your bump is beautifully round but you can still move comfortably. Booking 4 to 6 weeks ahead secures the date you want, and my maternity booking timeline lays it out week by week.

In New Tampa, the best outdoor light arrives in the hour before sunset, when sun filters through the pines and cypress. Summer storms usually build in the afternoon, so from June through September I often suggest studio sessions or early evening dates with a backup plan. Ready to start? Book your New Tampa maternity session and I'll reach out with gown options.

New Tampa maternity photography FAQs

AdventHealth Tampa on E. Fletcher Avenue has a Women's Health Pavilion with a level III NICU, and AdventHealth Wesley Chapel offers Mother and Baby Care to the north. Both are reachable from most of New Tampa. Planning your portraits between 28 and 34 weeks leaves breathing room before those last busy weeks.

Yes. The boardwalk is about a quarter mile, a short stroll even at 33 weeks. Morris Bridge Park covers 106 acres on the Hillsborough River, and the cypress canopy filters sunlight softly over a long gown. Wear comfortable sandals on the walk in and switch to heels only for the standing poses.

The USF Botanical Gardens cover 15 acres with more than 3,000 plants, which gives a gown plenty of color and texture. General admission is $5, free for kids 12 and under, and the gardens ask that you contact [email protected] about professional photography first. We sort that out before the date so the session runs smoothly.

Yes. A studio session gives you privacy, controlled light and the client gown wardrobe right there, which is perfect for silhouettes and bare-bump frames. For moms in the 33647 ZIP code, the drive is roughly 0 to 15 minutes, approximately, which helps when long car rides start to feel uncomfortable late in pregnancy.

On a boardwalk I lean toward fitted gowns with a short train, so fabric does not catch on planks. Rich greens, cream and terracotta from my included wardrobe look lovely against cypress. Morris Bridge Park's quarter-mile boardwalk is short, so we can try two gowns without a long walk between them.

Book about 4 to 6 weeks ahead so we can land in the 28 to 34 week window. Tampa Palms, named the top master planned community in the U.S. for 1987, is close to the studio, which makes rescheduling easy if you need to move a date. My post on when to book a maternity photographer has a simple timeline.

Absolutely. Partners and children are welcome, and I start with family frames while little ones still have patience, then finish with solo bump portraits. Hunter's Green is a quick drive from my New Tampa studio, so we can schedule around her nap and she can arrive rested. Guided posing keeps everyone relaxed.

Your hand-retouched images arrive in 1 to 2 weeks in a private online gallery. For moms in Cory Lake Isles, Arbor Greene or Live Oak Preserve, that means prints can be framed and hung before baby comes home. Extra images beyond your collection are $50 each, and every option is on my maternity investment page.

In summer I book New Tampa outdoor sessions for the first hour after sunrise or the last hour before sunset. The cypress along the Hillsborough River at Morris Bridge Park keeps things shadier, but midday heat is still tough in the third trimester. If it is simply too hot, the studio is always an option.

Yes. The City of Tampa annexed New Tampa in 1988, about 24 square miles, and I photograph expecting moms throughout it, including K-Bar Ranch, West Meadows, Grand Hampton and Pebble Creek. The area grew from 7,145 residents in 1990 to 26,634 in 2000, and it has kept growing since.

Yes. The studio is in New Tampa, and with Interstate 75 and Interstate 275 both serving the area, moms coming from Wesley Chapel or from USF can get there without crossing downtown. Once you book, I send exact directions. Leave a little buffer for Bruce B. Downs Boulevard traffic during school pickup hours.
